CONSERVATIVE OR LIBERAL, LEFT OR RIGHT, WE CAN ALL AGREE GIVING BACK IS GOOD
Liberal or Conservative, Tea Party or Green Party -- regardless of political affiliation color or creed we can all agree giving back feels good. The political climate leading up to the 2016 US presidential election left me feeling like I needed a shower; 4 times a day! I have to admit, earlier in 2016 I found myself smack dab in the middle of the divisive political conundrum, engaging in conversation with friends, family and occasional strangers. It was a vortex of hatred sucking in any willing participant. Finding middle ground proved nearly impossible with such polarizing candidates.
So how do we compromise? How do we separate such division and near hatred to find common cause of good & happiness. The answer -- we give back. Giving back can involve elevating those around you through mentoring, forgiving those for transgressions, volunteering time within your community (coaching, school, government) or possibly donating to a charity that touches your heart. I have made my share of mistakes, we all have as we are human. Some mistakes are more painful than others, yet we learn. Looking back upon my life and those experiences that are most memorable, rewarding and positively impressionable it is my time as a kamper at Kanakuk & Kanokomo Kamps in Missouri that stands out.
